Amateur Radio

Since August 7th, 2003, I'm a participator in the amateur radio service using the call sign DO1LEO (German Class 3 license, 2m/70cm <10W EIRP).

Here's an overview of my equipment:

My "shack", setup for packet radio operation using the baby tower to the right.

Here come my rigs:

Sony ICF-SW100 world band receiver. I use it for shortwave because its selectivity is better than that of the TH-F7E, and it comes with an active antenna.

Kenwood TH-F7E 100kHz - 1.3GHz scanner, duoband FM transceiver 2m/70cm.

Diamond X-200N 2m/70cm antenna.

I tried packet radio with the soundcard (SoundModem, FlexNet) and had quite a lot of work getting it up and running. Still the results aren't quite satisfactory; seems I can't avoid buying a TNC some day.

My main interest in amateur radio is electronics and digital modes like packet radio, satellite transmissions etc. At the moment I'm not interested in contesting, and so far I don't have a QSL card.
